Problem:
Orange needed to develop an application for it’s small to medium business owner clients to help them manage their minutes, data, and Wi-Fi connection for the 2016 Euro Cup. The application had three previous releases before without much success in adoption or variation in how information was presented to customers.
In addition to product challenges, Orange had only one development team to manage two mobile applications (iOS and Android).

Solution:
The team identified a strong need for small business owners to quickly and easily assess and manage their data, minutes, and Wi-Fi connections for their business devices, providing a way to do this in a single view within a mobile application.
In order to solve for a single team maintaining two application platforms, the team coded in Kotlin, enabling a single codebase to maintain both iOS and Android experiences.

Process:
The team had varying levels of French and English language. I did not speak any French, but led the empathy research process. We interviewed French small business owners and translated these interviews for the team to identify the target persona and customer problem the application was tasked to solve. It was evident that the team needed to present the solution that differed from previous iterations of the product so we worked to create a unique management experience where the finance and usage were visually tied in a single view. We then iterated and validated on the solution through regular usability testing with French business owners. The team continued this cadence applying lean UX methodologies worked within an agile development process, leading to the solution that was released in the Apple Store September 30, 2016 and released in the Android store on October 3, 2016. I rotated my work to a local designer at the London office after the second push to production, due to my office needing me for a project locally in Los Angeles.
