Zoom is a dominant product for video conferencing and our company saw an opportunity with customers that chose to forego large event platform tools like Hopin and On24 for Zoom. With Zoom's new marketplace, we saw an opportunity to enhance an already existing behavior of customers using Zoom to run their large remote events. Keevue made it easier for companies to mange their Zoom conference sessions with a web tool that integrated with Zoom's API.
Keevue allowed users to simultaneously know the health of their conference sessions in a single view. They could also drill down into the details of a live session and also archive past sessions to review the performance of their overall conference against conferences in previous months or years.
Geometer LLC was extremely focused as an incubator to work in the live events space during the pandemic. Several companies were created along with Keevue Inc. I initially served as the designer and product manager for the company, working under a hired CEO. Eventually, that CEO stepped down and the founders of the incubator requested that I take over the company.
Leading a team of two engineers, we managed to create a fully functional product that was live on the Zoom marketplace for customers to use by November 2021. A lot of delays were a result of the previous CEO and I worked very hard to ensure we launched and marketed the product. The goal was to release the product by August of 2021.
I learned a ton from the experience. Not only did I balance product related needs, but I also learned what it takes to manage a whole company when a startup needs to be lean. I picked up skills in go to market strategies, hired outside marketers, managed sales and worked to ensure that the company had enough funds and runway.
Eventually, I made the tough decision with my team to close the company down. It was very difficult, but I also learned what it took to go through that process not only internally with my employees, but also with my customers.
